Last week I taught a workshop to a photographer and demonstrated both the mercurial and becquerel versions of the process. Having not made a non mercury developed daguerreotype since 2008 it took some testing to find out the ASA of the plates. This sixth plate of clad stock was galvanised prior to sensitisation and gilded post development. The digital view of the Bromeliads below shows how the green is rendered in the process, since it is mostly orthochromatic (blue light sensitive). A longer exposure would have rendered the plants better but overexposed the rest of the plate.
