Daguerreotypy requires specialized equipment that is not readily available to the modern practioner. Over the years I have amassed such items to assist in my Daguerreian art, here presented are a selection:
Mahogany sliding box camera with 4 darkslides for 1/3rd (3.75"x4.25"), 1/4 (3.25"x4.25") and 1/6th(2.75"x3.25") formats. Brass Daguerreian era Petzval lens with rack and pinon focusing. Made in 2008 by Ivan Rose of Cheltenham, England.
Walnut sliding box camera with 2 darkslides for 1/6th(2.75"x3.25") format. Brass Petzval lens with rack and pinon focusing. Camera has built in stereo mount in the base for the wooden stereo attachment (see images). Made in 2002 by Ivan Rose of Cheltenham, England.
Stainless steel mercury pot darkslides with adapted vintage plate holder. Sealed within and with a neoprene gassket between darkslide and pot. this condensing mercury pot has a double darkslide arrangment to prevent vapors from escaping and is always used within a fumehood as a failsafe measure.
Iodine and Bromine fuming boxes for plate sensitisation feature ground glass lids to the interior glass containers.I have a set for 6th plate only and a larger set that does all the formats I work with. All built by Ivan Rose of Cheltenham, England.
