Ambrotype cases in situ
From Japan, images of the ambrotype cases and mats I made awhile back for a Photo/paper conservator there. They now protect copy ambrotypes shown here with the original image which is of Yukichi Fukuzawa who adorns the country’s banknotes.

7 mats for 7 cases
These are the custom brass mats made specifically for seven half plate daguerreotypes in the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian. The mats are solid brass, that are textured, coloured gold, bevelled and the bevel burnished and lacquered.
